Storm Yvette was a low pressure system in the Balkans that caused severe flooding and violent storms in south-eastern and east-central Europe in mid-May 2014. It claimed several human lives and the deaths of countless animals, particularly in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Serbia; hundreds of thousands of people were affected. The amount of rain that fell from May 14 to 19, 2014 was the highest recorded in the 120 years since weather records began in the Sava region.
We immediately equipped local vets with relief supplies and medicines so that they could be with the animals, covered the cost of food for “farm” animals and dogs and cats and provided ongoing advice. Urgently needed medicines for the human hospital also found a place in our aid transporters, as well as numerous other necessities for animals and people.
