Shelter support Switzerland

Support for animal shelters
Aktivitäten > Support for animal shelters > Shelter support Switzerland

We regularly receive calls for help from animal shelters and rescue centres in Switzerland that have reached their time and financial limits. Many of these animal shelters take in animals that others reject because they are too expensive. It is precisely these shelters that we help, be it by taking over necessary treatments and operations, through medical missions or working days on site, through counselling, training or by supplying food, antiparasitics or other necessary supplies. No aid is given to animal shelters that kill animals for cost reasons or because of positive rapid tests. It would go beyond the scope of this report to list all the help and all the missions, especially because a large part of the help is often provided discreetly in the background. In emergency situations in particular, discretion and unbureaucratic help are vital for the continued existence of a rescue centre or shelter, even in Switzerland.

Medical days and work assignments

When working on site, we organise medical and vaccination days with our vets to examine all the animals and identify those that ultimately require further treatment. This saves the animals a lot of stress and the animal shelter high costs. On the other hand, our dedicated teams help the animal shelters with daily missions to carry out various tasks that are often neglected in everyday life. Our playlist on YouTube gives you an exciting insight into our work on life farms and in animal shelters.

Help for animal shelters and sanctuaries

It would go beyond the scope of this report to list all the help and all the missions, especially because a large part of the help often takes place discreetly in the background. In emergency situations in particular, discretion and unbureaucratic help are vital for the continued existence of a rescue centre or shelter, even in Switzerland.

Work assignments 2025

06.09.2025 – Katzenheim Pro Animali Marfeldingen

Working at the cat shelter was a matter of honour for us, because this wonderful shelter supports us in our work to combat cat suffering in Switzerland wherever it can. The programme for the day included cleaning, weeding and, above all, building new, sturdy cat houses. After all, the many felines need to find cosy and, above all, dry hiding places outside in winter. Everyone pitched in and, despite tired bones, was completely satisfied with the result. This certainly won’t be our last visit!

09.08.2025 – Lebenshof VgT in Buhwil

For the first time, a team of volunteers lent a hand at the sanctuary run by the Swiss Association Against Animal Factories (VgT). Despite the hot weather, they managed to get a lot done! Many of the rabbit hutches were mucked out and refilled with fresh bedding. The sheep and goat pens were also mucked out and cleaned, so that the four-legged friends could look forward to a fresh bed of straw at night. In addition, two new ponds were dug and built for the ducks. Even before the work was completed, the two ducks had already jumped into the water.

Throughout the day, the animals at the sanctuary accompanied us and helped us out in various ways. The VgT has also taken in several feral cats that nobody wanted. In addition, rabbits, pigs, sheep, goats, numerous birds, guinea pigs, dogs and cows find a home there after being rescued from exploitation. A wonderful sanctuary with great animals and lovely people!

27.07.2025 – Gnadenhof Peter-Hof

Many formerly unwanted, feral cats have found a home at Peter-Hof in Egg. In the beautiful surroundings of Pfannenstiel, they have a place where they are welcome and get everything they need. Such places are rare, and we are grateful to have found one for our wild cats. Cows, goats, guinea pigs, turtles and other animals also live at Peter-Hof, free from exploitation. That is why we decided to spend a day lending a hand and doing some belated spring cleaning in the chicken and goat stables. As a thank you for the wonderful help in rescuing so many cats. Together is better – together we make a difference for so many animals! You can find a video of the event here on Facebook.

15.06.2025 – Lebenshof Villa Kuhnterbunt

For the first time, we weren’t working with cows or sheep at Villa Kuhnterbunt, but with turtles and dogs. The weather was perfect, so we were able to get a lot of work done around the property. We also repainted fences and a small house. Everyone was in a good mood and eager to get stuck in. Of course, we also got to meet the turtles, Mr Ermel and Alphonse, in person after having them neutered a while ago.

10.05.2025 – Lebenshof Erlebenshof

For the third time, a motivated team was at work at the Erlebenshof in Gommiswald. In glorious sunshine and with a marvellous view, some major work was carried out on the farm. The main project consisted of converting the old barn into a training room. The walls and floor were renewed and the forecourt was also re-concreted. There was also a spring clean in the barn and, of course, the barn was also given a thorough going over. Sara from the farm was incredibly grateful, as it would have taken them over a week to do the work themselves. A video of the work can be found here on YouTube.

26.04.2025 – NetAP Kaninchenstation

Our rabbit centre in Zufikon in the canton of Aargau was prepared for the warmer season. Everything was cleared out, cleaned and finally set up again. The long-eared rabbits observed very closely what was going on. 20 rabbits of different breeds live in the centre and lead a life in the greatest possible freedom. They have all been rescued from various situations and are now enjoying their lives to the full.

05.04.2025 – Lebenshof Wendywelt

For the second time, we were working at the Wendy Welt farm in Hettenschwil, Aargau. Here, too, there was a lot of work to be done on two new pastures. These had to be prepared for the season so that the goats could enjoy their summer to the full. The pastures were mowed, fences were replaced and many blackberry bushes had to be cut back. The working day was long and intensive, partly because four volunteers unfortunately had to cancel at short notice and partly because all the work on the steep slope was carried out in glorious sunshine. Nevertheless, the dedicated team was able to look back on a successful day in the evening.

05.04.2025 – Lebenshof Waltwil 4

For the first time, a working day was organised at the Waltwil 4 farm in Wengi in the canton of Bern. A few years ago, we had actively helped with the placement of the laying hens during the conversion from conventional farming to a farm without the use of animals. A place was found for all 1500 animals. On this day, various tasks were carried out that were neglected in the day-to-day running of the farm: The fields were cleared of blacken and thistles and the storage room for the new farm shop was cleared and cleaned, just as the cold store was cleared and cleaned. So visitors can soon look forward to a great farm shop with direct sales from the farm!

29.03.2025 – Lebenshof Schöflioase

The season of Lebenshof work days started with a working day at the ‘Schöflioase’ farm in Riedikon near Uster. It was rainy and cold, but the team gave it their all and completed the many tasks with great vigour. The fruit trees in the pastures were tended and the protection in front of the Schöfli was renewed. The ivy, which is poisonous to the Schöfli, was also removed and, of course, a lot of blackening was carried out in the field. Soaked, dirty from head to toe, but happy was the team at the end of the day!

Update: This work assignment was created before we learned about the events surrounding Schöflioase in early summer 2025. We immediately ended our support for Schöflioase. We have decided not to delete the posts in order to continue to recognise the great work of our volunteers.

Work assignments 2024

23.12.2024 – Impftag Katzengruppe Schweiz

As always just before Christmas, our Swiss cat group had our full attention for one day. They are all checked by vet Andrea at the end of each year. They have their hearts checked, their weights determined, everything palpated, their ears looked at, their teeth checked, internal and external parasites checked and, finally, they are usually vaccinated. There is always a lot of nervousness beforehand: will everyone really be caught in time? Sidney, Benazir and Lila, for example, like it much better outside than inside and won’t let us touch them. Kassandra also likes to challenge us. But we were lucky! Everyone was there, everyone had their turn. The weather was definitely on our side! By the afternoon it was over and all the cats were relieved. It wasn’t that bad after all. Even Mowgli, who had been terribly upset, eventually realised that everything was back to normal. The gate was open again, the bowls were full and the ones that had been poking and pawing everywhere had gone. Now all is right with the world again.

24.08.2024 – Villa Kuhnterbunt

Our cheeky little cow Josie lives in a herd at Villa Kuhnterbunt in Läufelfingen and enjoys her ‘cool’ existence to the full. Once again this year, a NetAP team was on site and lent a hand to make life even more pleasant than it already is for the many cows. All of the animals were originally saved from death and hit the jackpot with a ticket to the villa. The eleven motivated volunteers spruced up the farm by cleaning the hoof box, whitewashing the barn, cutting out brambles in the pastures and clearing the area of weeds.

28.07.2024 – Tierheim Strubeli

After the first vaccination four weeks ago, the kittens at the Strubeli animal shelter had to go back for the second vaccination. Dr Mirella Pirovino naturally took the opportunity to examine them all again. They are all in top condition and now ready for their own homes, where they will hopefully be loved, cared for and nurtured for the rest of their lives. And if they get free access, they will certainly be protected against herpes, calici, parvo and leucosis!

13.07.2024 – Schöflioase
Once again this year, a work assignment took place at Lebenshof Schöflioase. A motivated ten-strong NetAP team supported Sabrina and Ruth Hämmig to take on numerous tasks that are somewhat neglected in the everyday life of a Lebenshof or require a few more hands. New fences were put up, fruit trees tended, weeds weeded and a future rabbit hutch was rebuilt. We are happy to be able to help in such a great place, because the gratitude is always huge.

Update: This work assignment was created before we learned about the events surrounding Schöflioase in early summer 2025. We immediately ended our support for Schöflioase. We have decided not to delete the posts in order to continue to recognise the great work of our volunteers.

30.06.2024 – Lebenshof Wendy Welt
Last Sunday we visited the vegan farm Wendy-Welt in Hettenschwil for the first time. Chickens, cockerels, goats, sheep, turkeys, rabbits, horses, dogs and cats live here. It was a strenuous day for the nine volunteers from NetAP, but everyone had great fun. The day’s programme included various environmental tasks, pulling new fences and intensive hedge maintenance. Thanks to their muscle power and zest for action, all the planned work was completed. You can find some impressions of the day here on Facebook.

30.06.2024 – Tierheim Strubeli

Due to an acute shortage of cat vaccines, we supported our partner, the Strubeli animal shelter, with a medical outreach day today. Strubeli has a lot of kittens from our animal welfare missions and these kittens all needed vaccinations. On 30 June, Dr Mirella Pirovino gave them a thorough examination, tested them and then vaccinated them for the first time.

The little monsters didn’t find this at all cool and didn’t show their best side, as you can see here. They all come from wild mums and know exactly how to growl and snarl. In the end, however, everything went smoothly and the Gremlins were allowed to return to their mums. We will repeat the whole process in 3-4 weeks for optimal basic immunisation.

28.04.2024 – Erlebenshof

On 28 April 2024, a NetAP team led by Katja pitched in at the Erlebenshof farm in Uetliburg. Pigs, sheep, chickens, cattle and other animals have a more than positive experience of life on this farm. They do not have to serve any human purpose, but live because their lives count for something. Just as any life would count. The energetic Volis took care of the spring cleaning of the entire barn and then made sure that the men and women could lie soft and cosy. In addition, trees and hedges were tended to, the pastures were spruced up, the brambles were pricked and the haystack was cleared out. A lot was done – under the watchful eyes of the feathered residents, who were probably quite pleased with the results.

You can find a video of the application here.

Work assignments 2023

22.12.2023 – Vaccination day cat group Switzerland

On 22 December 2023, the annual examination and vaccination day took place in our small cat sanctuary. All the cats were checked by vet Dr Andrea Bösch. Not all of them were cooperative, as feral cats are also part of our group. While most of them only received a worming and flea treatment in addition to their vaccinations, six patients needed a closer look. They were then registered at the Mittelland Veterinary Clinic for dental treatment. Surprisingly, our two youngest cats, Chesmu and Luzy, are particularly affected by major dental problems. Dental health in cats is often underestimated, as they know how to mask pain and still eat with a good appetite even with pus-filled teeth. It wasn’t that bad with our cats, but they still needed the dentist. All in all, we were very happy with the Büsis and even the really wild ones were quite good to look at.

14.10.2023 – Erlebenshof

For the first time, a NetAP work assignment took place at the wonderful Uetliburg adventure farm. The wind and rain didn’t stop the ten-strong NetAP team from really getting to work in Gommiswald in the canton of St. Gallen. Sara, the operator of the farm, which was established in 2022, had asked for help. The farm had undergone a TransFARMation and was being transformed from a conventional farm into a living farm. Environmental work was the main focus of the programme. Neophytes were combated, trees pruned where necessary and bushes trimmed. A piece of nature reserve belongs to the farm and this must be regularly maintained.

16.09.2023 – Lebenshof Einfach Sein

Once again, a NetAP team lent a hand at the Einfach Sein farm in Heimisbach in the Emmental and helped to prepare the farm for the coming winter.

17.06.2023 – Villa Kuhnterbunt

Many have been waiting for this. A first work assignment with our Josie and her friends at Villa Kuhnterbunt in Läufelfingen. A motivated team spent the whole of 17 June 2023 on the farm where Carlos used to live. Many cows and sheep have found a safe home here.

03.06.2023 – Katzengnadenhof Schnurrli

On 3 June 2023, a NetAP team visited the Schnurrli Foundation’s cat sanctuary on Sternenberg in the Zurich Oberland for the 10th time. There were also many tasks to complete on this day. Work that is often neglected in everyday life at the animal sanctuary.

29.04.2023 – Lebenshof Kuherde

On 29 April, a work assignment took place for the first time at Lebenshof Kuherde in Bowil. The farm is located in the heart of the Emmental. Here, humans and animals meet at eye level, as it should be on a working farm. The animals no longer have to be used, but are allowed to live their lives since the farm underwent TransFarmation. The team carried out many different tasks for which there is often hardly any time in the day-to-day running of a farm. And of course there was no shortage of pampering for the many residents.

15.04.2023 – Schöfli Oase

On 15 April 2023, a work assignment took place for the first time on the new ‘Schöfli-Oase’ farm. The farm is undergoing what is known as TransFARMation, i.e. the farm is being converted from livestock farming to a plant-based farm. The animals no longer need to be used by humans but are allowed to live their lives as self-determined as possible.

Update: This work assignment was created before we learned about the events surrounding Schöflioase in early summer 2025. We immediately ended our support for Schöflioase. We have decided not to delete the posts in order to continue to recognise the great work of our volunteers.

Work assignments 2022

15.10.2022 – Lebenshof Einfach Sein

For the second time this year and for the fourth time in total, a working day was held on 15 October at the Einfach Sein Lebenshof in Heimisbach in the Emmental valley. With this farm, Pia Buob has created a wonderful place for animals and people – a place where they can SIMPLY BE. Whether cow, chicken or horse – no animal has to be of any use here, but is allowed to lead a beautiful life according to its needs.

12.09.2022 – Tierasyl Hübeli

It happened again on 10 September 2022. Once again, a NetAP team lent a hand at the animal shelter in beautiful Hergiswil near Willisau. There was a lot to do: The wooden floor of the horse stable was completely renewed, the shed where the wild cats find refuge was cleaned from the roof to the floor and some repairs were carried out, after all, it shouldn’t rain on the cats’ heads. Important repairs were also made to the sheepfold, the pasture fences were repaired and in some cases completely replaced, and mowing had to be carried out in various places.

11.07.2022 – Hof Narr

On another working day at the Hof Narr farm in Hinteregg on 10 July 2022, a NetAP team once again lent a hand on many fronts. While the interaction with the animals is of course always the highlight of the day, the major weeding is less exciting and yet very important. The neophytes in particular were tackled. But many smaller and larger jobs such as cutting trees, collecting fruit and repairing fences were also part of the tasks that were completed in the bright sunshine.

25.06.2022 – Katzengnadenhof Schnurrli

A 17-strong NetAP team spent a very labour-intensive day on 25 June 2022 at the Schnurrli Foundation’s cat sanctuary on Sternenberg. The large cat litter box sandpit was completely renewed, all the boxes were cleaned and filled with fresh straw, slabs were laid at the pussy sitting area, a privacy screen to the car park was installed, the meadow was mowed and many other important jobs were done. The cats followed the whole thing with great interest and got a cuddle or two in between.

15.05.2022 – Hof Narr

A lot of work was done at HofNarr on 15 May 2022. Some of the motivated NetAP team prepared the fields for cultivation, which meant a lot of weeding and planting. A real labour of love! Another team spruced up the hay barn to prepare it for the new hay season. The Hof Narr farm is the basis of Sarah Heiligtag’s TransFarmation activities. This means that farms that are moving away from animal husbandry are given advice on how to develop a concept that ensures the farm is on a secure footing without milk, egg or meat production. egg or meat production. We are happy to support such farms with a helping hand.

07.05.2022 – Tierasyl Hübeli

On 7 May 2022, another work assignment took place at the Hübeli animal sanctuary in Hergiswil near Willisau. A motivated team took on all kinds of tasks that were neglected in the day-to-day work of the operators. They pulled horse fences, collected waste wood, cleaned, swept and lent a hand wherever necessary. The shelter offers a sheltered home to many animals that have not had a good life in the past. All our volunteers were totally exhausted but satisfied that they had achieved so much. The Hübeli crew was extremely grateful for the great help.

Work assignments 2021

09.10.2021 – Lebenshof Einfach Sein

Simply Being is the name of the farm where a 20-strong team was deployed on 9 October 2021. However, the motto for the day was anything but ‘just being’, as the team had to work hard. They fought neophytes, mucked out, littered, harvested, cleaned and, of course, interacted with the animals again and again. Everyone was highly motivated and got a lot done in this beautiful place in the Bernese Emmental.

10.07.2021 – Tierasyl Hübeli

A strenuous but successful day of work took place on 10 July 2020 at Hübeli Animal Sanctuary. A lot of work was completed. Among other things, a new wooden floor was installed in the stable, the gutters were cleaned and various environmental work was carried out. the new stable floor took the most time, so Marco and Aline were on site until almost 22.00h to complete this work professionally. You can find a short film about our work here.

26.+27.07.2021 – Katzengnadenhof Schnurrli

A very intensive working weekend took place on 26 and 27 June 2021 at the Schnurrli Foundation’s cat sanctuary in Sternenberg ZH. Under the leadership of Annette Schuppisser, a highly motivated group of NetAP helpers ensured that numerous important tasks that had no place in the day-to-day running of the animal sanctuary were completed. Hedges were cut, floor tiles laid, all cat houses cleaned and filled with new straw, weeds plucked, the large cat sandbox emptied, cleaned and refilled, the meadow of the large outdoor enclosure mowed and many other tasks completed. We know many of the residents of the cat sanctuary. Time and again, unplaceable animals from our missions are taken in by this incomparable animal shelter. One more reason why we regularly help on site. You can find a short film about our work here.

02.06.2021 – Hof Narr

For the 5th time this year, a NetAP team worked at the Hof Narr farm and did all the work that is somewhat neglected in everyday life on the farm. We are particularly happy to help here because Hof Narr invests a lot of time in what is known as TransFarmation, i.e. farmers who are looking to get out of animal production are given advice and support. A great thing all round. We are happy to take on a few jobs so that there is more time for more living farms.

11.05.2021 – Katzengnadenhof Schnurrli

It was time again on 8 May 2021. A NetAP team arrived at the Schnurrli cat sanctuary in Sternenberg in the morning to check all the cats at the shelter, treat them for internal and external parasites, vaccinate them and take blood samples for further examinations and grooming. A vet, two TPAs and two helpers worked together with the Schnurrli team throughout the day. More than half of the cats at the animal shelter are feral, which is why a great deal of sensitivity was required to look at all of them from head to toe.

On the one hand, we help the Schnurrli to save costs (we bear the costs of this operation including antiparasitics and vaccinations) and, above all, we save the cats a lot of stress because the annual check for all animals can take place on site on one day.

We know many of the patients from our own missions. In particular, we were able to entrust this unrivalled cat shelter with feral cats that were not welcome anywhere else.

01.+02.05.2021 – Hof Narr

In May, we were once again at work on the Narr farm in Hinteregg and lent a hand wherever the help of our dedicated volunteers was needed. Rain and cold could not stop the team on 1 and 2 . May from giving their all to get all the work done by Sunday. Sore muscles were of course included.

10.+11.04.2021 – Hof Narr

On the weekend of 10 and 11 April 2021, we were once again on duty at Hof Narr in Hinteregg under the direction of Katja Stooss. Wherever work is left undone in the hustle and bustle of everyday life on a farm, the volunteers lend a hand on days like this. The days are exhausting, but also always very rewarding and we are happy to be able to support places like this, which do a lot to sensitise the population, with our manpower.

Work assignments 2020

23.08.2020 – Hof Narr

It was time again on 23 August 2020. Head of Operations Katja Stooss organised another working day at Hof Narr. It’s almost a home game by now, as often as we’ve been on duty at this wonderful farm. This time too, our helpers had to lend a hand. Shovelling sand and stacking wood were the main tasks and challenged everyone physically. But it was worth it and in the evening the fools and the NetAPians were highly satisfied with the result.

23.08.2020 – Tierasyl Hübeli

For the first time, a NetAP team worked at the Hübeli animal sanctuary in Hergiswil near Willisau. Around 100 animals have found a home for life at the Hübeli animal sanctuary: Cats, dogs, donkeys, horses, goats, sheep, pigs, geese, ducks, rabbits and chickens. NetAP has also been able to place a feral tomcat (Vagabund) in the Hübeli. Operations manager Nadja Ng planned the work in advance with the people in charge at Hübeli. The main aim was to complete a new duck enclosure for which we also financed the wire mesh fence. The team gave their all and in the evening the ducks were able to move into their new home.

17.08.2020 – Katzengnadenhof Schnurrli

At the beginning of August 2020, we received a call for help from the Schnurrli cat sanctuary in Sternenberg. Due to the pandemic, there was a lack of volunteers and the Schnurrlis were unable to keep up with the environmental work and many other important activities. We immediately put together a team and on 15 August 2020 we completed all the work that had been left undone, such as mowing the meadows, trimming bushes, cleaning cat houses, clearing the forecourt and much more. We are delighted that our dedicated volunteers were immediately on hand and that we were once again able to provide valuable help to this wonderful cat paradise.

30.07.2020 – Tierheim Strubeli

No other animal shelter takes in as many cats as Strubeli Animal Shelter. It doesn’t matter whether the cats are wild or tame, healthy or sick, old or young. When it comes to animal welfare, Strubeli is always at our side. This summer we had a particularly large number of feral mum cats with their kittens at the shelter. Monitoring these animals is not always easy, as they avoid contact with humans and hide in the furthest cave as soon as someone enters the room. For this reason, we have provided Strubeli with three surveillance cameras. This makes it possible to see how the animals are doing at any time without stressing them unnecessarily.

15.07.2020 – Lebenshof Tiermensch

Once again this year, a work assignment took place at Lebenshof Tiermensch. A motivated 16-strong NetAP team stood by the farm team to take on numerous tasks that are somewhat neglected in the day-to-day running of a Lebenshof. The motivated helpers brought a lot of material with them and took on numerous tasks such as: Cleaning the pond, sanding and repainting the henhouse, replacing the carcasses on the horses, bulldozing horse pastures, cleaning pigeon pens, cleaning stables, cutting nettles, weeding, mopping, cleaning and many more. In addition, a NetAP vet took care of the many animals on the farm and examined, treated and advised them throughout the day. We have put together a video and a photo album of the event.

29.06.2020 – Katzengnadenhof Schnurrli

On 27 June 2020, another day of work took place at the Schnurrli Foundation’s cat sanctuary in Sternenberg. A motivated NetAP team took on numerous tasks that are often neglected in the day-to-day running of an animal sanctuary. Hedges were trimmed, lawns were mowed, all outdoor cat houses were cleared out, cleaned and disinfected, places were cleaned, sandboxes were cleaned and refilled and much more was done. It was still pouring with rain in the morning, but the sun finally came out around midday, but the volunteers were not deterred by the weather and managed to complete all the work by the end of the day.

09.05.2020 – Katzengnadenhof Schnurrli

It was time again on 9 May 2020. For the third time, a NetAP team took over the annual inspection of the cats from the Schnurrli Foundation’s cat sanctuary in Sternenberg in the canton of Zurich. The cat sanctuary is home to around 60 cats that can no longer be rehomed, including those from NetAP missions. Some of the cats are unclean, feral, elderly or have behavioural problems of some kind. All the cats were thoroughly examined, treated for internal and external parasites and vaccinated. Some of them had blood taken for further investigations, some got a new hairstyle, others needed an infusion and so each cat received everything they needed for their continued well-being. Of course, all coronavirus rules were adhered to, even if this was sometimes a bit of a challenge. We have put together a short video about the day: Medical day for the Schnurrli cats

Work assignments 2019

28.08.2019 – Hof Narr

On 25 August 2019, a NetAP team once again made itself useful at the Narr farm in Hinteregg. The dedicated volunteers completed numerous tasks that often have to take a back seat in the day-to-day work of a working farm.

06.07.2019 – Katzengnadenhof Schnurrli

Weeding, cutting hedges, renewing the sandpit, mowing the lawn and much more was on the programme. All the power women really rocked the Sternenberg on this Saturday, while the cats followed everything from curiously to suspiciously. Some of the four-legged friends took the opportunity to demand to be stroked (every five minutes or so), while others took refuge in a hiding place somewhere to wait for all the annoying two-legged friends to disappear again. Finally, a thunderstorm brought the working day to an end and even if we didn’t quite get everything done, we can still say it was a great day and we’ll definitely be back.

31.05.2019 – Katzengnadenhof Schnurrli

On 5 May, another medical day was held at the Schnurrli Foundation’s cat sanctuary on Sternenberg. These medical days are a great pleasure for our team, as the cat sanctuary is a real little cat paradise and is run with great care. The cats enjoy a great deal of freedom and can normally roam freely throughout the building and the large fenced-in, very varied area. Just normally. On the evening before the day of the operation, however, the Büsis could only go inside, but not outside, so that they were all ready for the medical check. They didn’t think that was so cool.

Every chick, whether wild or tame, was weighed, examined, treated for internal and external parasites, vaccinated where necessary, some had blood taken for further investigations, some had to be clipped and a few other necessities had to be endured. A few were sedated so that the examination could be carried out gently and thoroughly. However, many were cooperative throughout.

Some ‘NetAP cats’ also live in the cat shelter. Cats that we had to catch at some point because local residents wanted to get rid of the unwanted animals. Or cats from animal hoardings belonging to private owners who had massively neglected these cats. All feral animals that could not have been integrated into a private household. It’s great that we can count on the help of the Schnurrli Foundation in such cases and that they take in our patients. And it’s great to see how well the cats are doing in this wonderful place. Our Grizzly was also closely examined. Six months ago, we handed Grizzly over to the Sternenberg team after we had to catch him and have him operated on. He had a nasty thyroid tumour that had already grown into his bone. We knew that the tumour would grow again and were a bit nervous when we examined him. It did indeed grow, but less quickly than we expected. Otherwise, Grizzly seems fit and happy and we hope that it will stay that way for longer.

Dalia, Chicco Longhi and Chico Corti, Filou, Dixi, Fee, Grisu, Willson, Jeremy…. We were able to accompany so many wonderful cats throughout the day. We would like to thank the cat shelter team for the great preparation, the dedicated cooperation, the great catering and the big heart that you can feel in every corner of this wonderful place.

PS: there was a TV report about this day of action in the programme Tierisch: Einsatztag Sternenberg

07.05.2019 – Hof Narr

On 28 April 2019, another work assignment took place at Lebenshof Hof Narr in Hinteregg. Despite the cold and rain, a highly motivated team led by Katja helped with numerous tasks to give the farm a spring makeover. As always, the hard-working helpers were treated to a delicious meal by the farm owners. Hof Narr is committed to a sustainable way of life and offers numerous rescued animals a comfortable home. For many people, a visit to the farm is a wonderful experience, especially because all the animals are extremely trusting and even the chickens like to be stroked.

16.03.2019 – Lebenshof Tiermensch

On 16 March, a work assignment took place at the Tiermensch farm in Hüntwangen. The farm provides a wonderful home for many animals and motivates its visitors to lead a sustainable lifestyle. We are delighted that we are always able to support life farms with work assignments with our many dedicated volunteers. The animal friends take on various tasks on such days, for example to get the farm ready for spring. Day leader Mary-Lu, together with Ann and Kusi from the Lebenshof, had many tasks on the list, such as cleaning the pond, sanding and painting the chicken house, cleaning the ecorasters of the horses/pigs, cleaning all the stables, preparing pastures, creating a raised bed and much more. NetAP covered all the material costs for the work day. It was a great day with great people and a super delicious lunch. A visit to Lebenshof Tiermensch is highly recommended!

09.05.2018 – Katzengnadenhof Schnurrli

Our team spent a wonderful working day on 5 May 2018 at the Schnurrli cat sanctuary in Sternenberg. All the four-legged residents of the fantastic facility were examined, treated for internal and external parasites and, depending on when they were due, also vaccinated. In addition, a few teeth were extracted, blood was taken for further examinations and grooming was carried out.

Many of the residents of the Katzengnadenhof are somewhat elderly or have other special needs. Some are so wild that we had to put them under anaesthetic for examination and treatment. All of them are already fit and lively again.

Everything was professional and calm. The Schnurrli team worked hand in hand with us and there was always time for a few extra strokes for Jasi, Dixi and Co.

The cat sanctuary in Sternenberg is something very special and we are delighted that we were able to make a contribution to maintaining this fantastic facility with our medical outreach day. Thanks to the financial savings that we enable Schnurrli to make through such days of work, we have more financial resources to do justice to the many individual cases. We are already looking forward to the next day on site.

09.05.2018 – Hof Narr

On a gloriously beautiful April day, 20 NetAP volunteers once again lent a hand at the Hof Narr farm in Hinteregg. The many hard-working helpers efficiently completed the environmental and stable work, accompanied by lots of laughter and animal petting. Our volunteer Claudia even made a short film about the assignment:

02.12.2017 – Katzenasyl

On 2 December 2017, an emergency team examined and treated 70 cats at the last refuge cat shelter in Buckten. All cats were treated for parasites and vaccinated, and a treatment recommendation was issued for various four-legged friends. Further days of on-site work will follow. Around 100 cats that were no longer wanted live at the cat sanctuary. Many of them have illnesses, disabilities, are not socialised or do not conform to the ‘norm’ for other reasons, so it would not have been easy to place them there. They have found refuge in the cat shelter, and many of them have escaped lethal injection. The next outreach day will take place on 23 December.

15.05.2017 – Hof Narr

On 14 May 2017, another work assignment took place at the Narr farm in Hinteregg. Despite bad weather forecasts, all NetAP volunteers arrived punctually and highly motivated at HOF NARR in Hinteregg. They mucked out, cut turf, trimmed bushes, moved hay, stretched fences and socialised with the chickens, pigs and goats. They always have a lot to say if you really want to listen to them. Hof Narr is an oasis for animals, nature, people and fools. Fools who are often ridiculed for their work, but who ultimately ensure that this planet is preserved for everyone, today, tomorrow and in the distant future. Awaken the fool in you, it’s worth it!

23.04.2017 – Hof Narr

HOF NARR is a very special farm in Hinteregg in the canton of Zurich. An oasis for animals, nature, people and, above all, fools. Fools who dare to question habits and break down existing constraints so that this planet remains peaceful and free of suffering for all. A highly motivated group of 27 NetAP volunteers gathered on 22 April to put in a foolish day’s work and relieve the court jesters of some of the work that had been left undone. After all, a courtyard like this, which is a meeting place for all those who look behind the scenes, is a lot of work.

15.06.2016 – Hof Narr

Tilling, shovelling, fencing, sowing, planting… The tasks were varied and strenuous. But making sure that everything was ready for the pastures and the vegetables was well worth the ‘drudgery’. So that the animals can graze and agriculture can flourish without animal exploitation, because that’s what NetAP stands for. It was a wonderful day and despite blisters on the hands and aching muscles in the arms and back, everyone agreed: The next mission at Hof Narr is sure to follow! You can find a film about the day and Hof Narr here.

16.03.2016 – Schweiser Tierheim

We received a call for help at short notice at the beginning of March. An animal shelter had fallen on hard times, as the owner had been in poor health for some time and was now hospitalised following a stroke. Sometimes a big heart alone is no longer enough to run an animal shelter professionally. Sometimes your health puts a spanner in the works and if you don’t realise that you should have changed something before you fall over, it’s almost too late. In such almost hopeless situations, unbureaucratic, fast and discreet help is often vital to save a rescue centre or animal shelter.

Materials, veterinary aid and, above all, people who are willing to lend a hand make a big difference in a situation like this. Accordingly, we quickly organised an emergency team and headed west with numerous relief supplies. In snow and ice on 3, 5 and 6 March, a total of 15 dedicated volunteers led by Michèle Gehri provided emergency aid, treated animals, cleared and cleaned and ensured that the relief supplies and other materials were used in a targeted manner. The aim was to organise the shelter in such a way that one person alone could care for the animals. Around half of the animals were handed over to friendly organisations. The operation can be considered a success, not least thanks to the excellent co-operation of many people.

23.09.2015 – Katzenasyl

Today was another treatment day for the cats at the last refuge cat sanctuary in Buckten. In addition to a kitten with a broken leg, the head of the shelter personally brought along the cats Noa, Elsa, Filou and Bänzli. Some of the cats had to be neutered, had their teeth refurbished and were generally checked over. We have been supporting the cat sanctuary for some time by taking on major medical procedures. Many cats have found a new home in Buckten that would otherwise hardly have had a chance due to their handicaps. All operations are carried out in the small animal clinic in Dübendorf by Dr Enrico Clavadetscher’s team. We would like to thank everyone for their great support!

11.05.2015 – Eselhof Aline

Last Saturday was the 2nd day of work at the Aline donkey farm in Feldbach. Due to a staff shortage caused by an accident, a lot of work at the donkey farm was left undone for a long time. Reason enough for the NetAP volunteers to lend a helping hand to the operators and not only take on the long overdue environmental work on two Saturdays, but also cover part of the stable service for the farm’s long-eared residents for a few weeks. This second working day marked the end of this emergency aid programme. One of our volunteers has made a short film about our commitment, which we would like to share with you. 19.04.2015 – Eselhof Aline

The Aline donkey farm in Feldbach offers comfort and a home to donkeys in need. Many donkeys have already been rescued from bad conditions and nursed back to health. Donkeys that have never seen a fellow donkey for years and have had to endure a miserable existence soon feel at home in the group and enjoy their lives. Donkeys with illnesses or injuries are cured and given new life energy. Due to an accident, the donkey farm has had to struggle with a serious staff shortage in recent weeks. As a result, a lot of important work had to be cancelled. Reason enough for a NetAP team to lend a helping hand to the operators of this wonderful rescue centre.

Yesterday, despite the initially cold and rainy weather, ten highly motivated emergency services arrived at the farm shortly after eight o’clock. Work around the farm was on the agenda. Hedges and trees urgently needed to be trimmed. The team sawed, cut and cleared away non-stop, interrupted only by many vineyard snail rescue operations. The animals clearly felt at home in the damp hedges. To prevent them from being trampled, they were all brought to safety. After all, this was an animal welfare operation! Of course, the helpers also took the time to groom the many donkeys that were changing their coats – which the animals clearly enjoyed. The two dogs and the farm’s cuddly tomcat were not neglected either.

In the evening, the stable was prepared for the night. Mucking out, bedding, cleaning and refilling the water troughs and providing food were on the agenda. Tired but satisfied, the team finally said goodbye to the Huber family and the animals and promised to come back whenever the donkeys were in need.

29.04.2014 – Katzenasyl

Chico, Nemo and Luzy from the cat sanctuary in Buckten were our patients today. Although there were other cats in the party, they were healthy enough that no surgery was necessary. However, the three animals that underwent surgery also survived well and have already returned home to the cat sanctuary.

Work assignments 2013

20.08.2013 – Katzenasyl

Last Tuesday, it all started at the small animal clinic in Dübendorf. The head of the cat sanctuary needed to bring the most urgent cases to the clinic in person. After a thorough check-up, the three male and one female cat had their teeth restored and other necessary work was carried out. Günther Weber was touched. He had never experienced such ‘service’ before. What we take for granted is unfortunately not part of everyday life: our board member Dr Clavadetscher treats every animal as if it were his own. Whether it is an animal welfare case or a paying customer is irrelevant. Every animal deserves the best possible care.

Another four candidates are in the clinic today. They will also have their teeth restored. Because dental problems are often underestimated. Toothache is often the cause of uncleanliness, aggression, lack of appetite and much more. We will now carry out the necessary operations for the cats from Buckten on an ongoing basis. So that Günther Weber, who gives his last shirt for the Samptpfoten, can sleep peacefully again and the cats can eat again with a healthy appetite.

16.06.2013 – Vogelvolière Mythenquai

Tierheimhilfe Schweiz: A NetAP team was in action today at the Mythenquai bird aviary. It all started with a sparrow that had fallen out of its nest, which was rescued by tomcat Pelé and brought to the aviary by our president. In the process, she learnt about the permanent stress of the operators. At the moment there are so many injured or orphaned birds that need help that it is simply impossible to keep up with the cleaning work. Today, the NetAP team took on the very work for which there was simply not enough time: spring cleaning in the visitor hall. Accompanied by a marvellous bird concert, the cleaning was not difficult. And bird expert Elisabeth Kehl repeatedly showed the team little patients and explained what the balls of feathers need.
