NetAP was founded in 2008 and was recognized as a non-profit organization and tax-exempt by the tax authorities of the Canton of Zurich on 30 September 2008. Donations to NetAP can be deducted from taxes within the framework of the legal provision.
The organization aims to promote all animal welfare issues and makes no distinction between individual animal species.
The headquarters of NetAP is located in Esslingen in the canton of Zurich. This is the organization’s competence center, from where missions are planned, new projects evaluated, programs coordinated, and various inquiries answered. Countless people in need find support here or are referred to appropriate specialist services. Regular training sessions and consultations also take place at this location. In addition, our warehouse with relief supplies and extensive equipment is located at this address.
Since its establishment, NetAP has been advocating for so-called street animals and farm animals because we have in-depth knowledge and extensive experience in these areas. The term ‘farm animals,’ covers all animals used commercially by humans. This includes not only the use of animals as providers of food and clothing but also their use for entertainment, such as in aquariums and zoos, and their use in research. The term “stray animals” covers all pets that have no actual owners or whose owners do not take responsibility for the animals. This mainly affects dogs and cats, but also cows in countries such as India.
Thanks to the voluntary work of the Board of Directors, all volunteers and numerous other specialists on the one hand and the full coverage of management and administrative costs by the Board of Directors and sponsors on the other, the organization does not generate any additional costs that have to be covered by donations. This is unique for an organization with our track record.
In 2020, the umbrella organization of Bernese animal welfare organizations awarded NetAP the Bernese Animal Welfare Prize for NetAP’s sustainable commitment to the welfare of cats in Switzerland and specifically in the canton of Bern.
In 2014, NetAP was awarded the Elisabeth Rentschler Foundation’s Animal Welfare Prize. This was awarded for the sustainable and consistent implementation of the animal welfare concept and services on the field for “farm” and “street” animals.
